A Study on the Preparation of phenytoin injection and the Effect of Stability

Abstract
|
|
|
It is known that 1gm of phenytoin dissolves in about 66m1 water but it is unstable and will soon turbid by heating.
It was possible to make 5% phenytoin injection by method of Murphy and Schwarb(1956) adding ,10% alcohol and 40% propylenglycol.
This solution is autoclaved 120° 20mint and analyzed by spectrophotometry. In this study:
1) phenytoin cobaltamine complex is Obtained easily and unchanged until 2hr. later.
2) According to table Ij the color complex was not effected to phenytoin by propylenglycol
3) It is found that phenytoin injectable solution adding propylen glycol and alcohol is possible to prepared and stable in autoclavation and analysis by spectrophotometric method.
